Women in Black Peace Vigil

Saturday,
August 30, 2008

This event is being hosted by the Westminster Women in Black. We will be gathering on East Main Street, in front of the library courtyard. Please bring a peaceful sign and a friend while we continue to spread the message of peace throughout our city.

**A special note to any attendees.**

During our vigils, we are to remain silent during the hour that we stand. We will not
engage the people across the street.

Thank you again for your continued support!

A Special Thanks to New Attendees

On Saturday, July 12, 2008, we were able to meet many new people. Two enthusiastic young ladies were from the Westminster area, one gentleman from Rosedale, MD and a man that just wanted to stand with people that believed the same things we all do.

On one occasion a young man approached the demonstration and just looked curious and maybe a little upset. After talking to him, I found out that he is currently in the United States Armed Forces. We seemed to appreciate the face that we are definitely in support of the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. However he did state that he was for the war. nonetheless, we embraced him and thanked him for his service to our country and wished him well on future tours of duty.

This simple act of talking to someone to find out where exactly they stand, was enough to explain to the young man that we support him 100%, but that we do not support the current Administration or war. I believe he walked away with the knowledge that because we are standing there, that we can also be FOR THE TROOPS.

No one of our signs stated that we were against the troops.

Department of Defense - Casualty Update

Upon my search to look for any information from the Department of Defense I found that they have a .pdf file that is now available for view or download, with the number of deaths resulting from Combat Operations and "Post-Combat Ops".

So for those people that stand across the street and wish to deny the amount of US Soldiers that have died, I would recommend that you read the official document yourselves.

Message About Hate Crimes in the United States

If you or anyone you know has been affected by a hate crime against sexuality, race, gender or religion, please stand up and do something about it. Only when we start talking about the terrible actions of others will we truly see a change in the world...

Gathering of Eagles Protest Code Pink

FISA and George W. Bush

Please watch this video of Keith Olberman of MSNBC, during a special comment. This message should bring understanding to the FISA and Telecom immunity rat race.

Code Pink arrives in Westminster

Unfortunately the reception from some was not very welcoming,
as you will see in the video. With their recent activity
in Berkley, CA, they have drawn crowds wherever they show up.

They were given the Vagina Warrior award and also were recipients of hatred and bigotry from the Gathering of Eagles, Free Republic, Republican Central Committee, Marine Corps League, Young Marines and others

Whatever the protesters attempts were during their protest, they gave us
even more resolve to fight for what we believe in. In 2008, we the people will
elect our next President of the United States of America. Whether it is Hillary Clinton
or Barack Obama, we will see real change in this country. We've endured seven
excruciating years of a President that has not listened to the American people.
He has chosen to listen to the minority of the citizens, not the majority.

It is time to start fighting back against the saber-rattling protestors and rally around what we believe in and stand for. We will not be deterred...
